![]() Head spinning, heart racing, palms sweaty.....CONFUSION ABOUNDS!! Yep, you are in the BROW SECTION of your favourite cosmetic supply store and you are about to cry because you have NO idea what to buy or HOW to make your brows look like Kim K! Fleek? Fugetaboutit!! Let's get real!! There are a LOT of brow products out there and knowing which one to choose to achieve the look you want can be really simple when you understand each product's specific function. Pencil: Brow pencils have been around FOREVER.....and there is nothing better if you are looking at create a well defined arch!! Use a sharp, fine tip pencil to lightly draw in your shape and to feather in faint, precise hair looking strokes in brows that are sparse! Use a light hand! I do NOT recommend using a pencil to fill in your entire brow! This is where POWDER comes in! Powder: Brow powder is soft and creates a natural looking, filled in brow. After you have applied your pencil to create your basic shape (pencil is optional girls, depending on what you are looking to achieve) begin to lightly fill in your brow with powder using a small angled brush with dense, stiff bristles. Less is more!!! Brow pigments have super colour concentration so using a light hand is super important! Creams and Gels: AFTER you have mastered the use of pencils and powders and you feel adventurous....you can step into the arena of creams and gels! These products help to mold and hold the brow hairs in place and they generally have a high concentration of colour! Again, I suggest a light hand and AVOID placing a large volume of product at the inside corners of the eye. If you love a well molded brow but are not ready to use a cream or gel product, there are wonderful , colourless brow balms on the market that will help to keep your brows in place! Most of these products contain oils which will remove your pencil and powder if too much is used so be sure to apply sparingly! If using over your natural brow without the use of any other colour product, apply at will! Remember, there are no set rules here but knowing which product does what...will help you navigate your way through the waters of brow design so that you can get the results you desire! #thesugarreport ![]() Purchase Brow Down Brow Pigment IN OUR STORE! 100% natural!

![]() Yesterday, we demystified Highlighting and today, we are going to do the same with Contouring! In the same way that a light shone on the face will highlight certain features naturally, there are features that will fall into SHADOW when light falls on them. These are the areas of the face that RECEDE or fall BACK. These are generally the areas of the fact that you want to apply your contouring product to. Keeping in mind that just as with highlighting....you may feel you have a feature that naturally recedes too much already, in which case you would AVOID using contour in that area! I like to choose a product that is the same colour as my face would be if I were tanned. It should look natural and NOT overdone!! You can also lightly contour with blush and/or bronzer if you so desire! The product you choose, depends on your skin type and your personal preference! I personally like powder over creams and liquids because I enjoy blending powder much more. Remember to choose a synthetic bristle brush for liquid and cream product and a natural hair bristle brush for powder!, apply and BLEND BLEND BLEND! We don't want to actually see the makeup! We are creating the illusion perfectly worn features naturally, thanks to the careful application of product! TO RECAP: HIGHLIGHT areas that COME FORWARD on the face and CONTOUR areas that FALL BACK. In the same way, HIGHLIGHT areas that you WANT to come forward, and CONTOUR areas that you want to fall back! Wasn't that EASY? Now let's see those highlight and contour pictures ladies!!! Post to our Facebook page @warbabycosmetics! See our store for Bronzer, Highlight and an awesome collection of Makeup Brushes to help you get the job done! *Image taken from Jemma Kidd Make-up Masterclass. ![]() I don't know about you, but as a professional MUA, watching all of the clown contour and highlight videos circulating over social media, makes me SNAKEY! High speed, non-sensical and overdone makeup does NOT help the average woman figure out what highlighting IS, or how to incorporate into her DAILY makeup routine!! Let me break it down for you in REALLY simple terms! First, get yourself your favourite highlight or strobing product. MAY I be so bold as to recommend this AMAZING product I USE called "Siren's Lagoon Face and Body Highlight"! Purchased of course, IN OUR STORE! :) PS. Highlighting and Strobing are essentially the SAME THING! Both involve the simple application of strategically placed makeup to enhance features of the face/body. 1. Understand what highlighting is. If I were to shine a light on your face, there are areas of your face that PROTRUDE more than others...and catch more light. These are the areas (in most cases...) that you want to add your highlighting product to, to further enhance those features. 2. Let it be said...you may have features that you feel protrude TOO much...in which case, you would want to AVOID using highlight in those areas, and opt for contour instead, which will make those areas appear to recede. More on contour TOMORROW :) 3. This illustration shows (without the use of overdone, confusing makeup), the areas of the face that typically catch light naturally. 4. If using a cream or liquid highlight, apply with a synthetic bristle brush. If using powder (my favourite) apply with a natural hair bristle brush. What's the difference? More on THAT next week! 5. Blend well and enjoy!!! See? Wasn't that EASY?! Keep makeup simple and you will enjoy it MUCH more!! Now let's see some highlighting ladies!!! Post your pictures to our Facebook page!! @warbabycosmetics! *Image taken from Jemma Kidd Make-up Masterclass Apparently the humidity in Calgary yesterday was 61%. I do NOT believe it!! My skin takes a beating during these winter months. And not just my skin actually! I seem to get super dehydrated really fast! I need to drink tons of water and make sure I am constantly applying lotions to my body, hands and face. The lip balm is around every corner and crevice when I need it! It's one of the reasons I created some of the product I did and I can tell you, I am SO HAPPY to have it in my life!!! One of my favourite products is currently out of stock. The "Mr Sandman Anti Aging Face Mist" is amazing to spritz on during the day any time you need it. Can go right over top of makeup. AMAZING dry oil spray!! Hoping to have this back soon as I MISS IT!!!! I'm ready for summer!!! How about you guys?! ![]() Seriously, thank you Mr. Sandman for being in my life!!!! ![]() Back in stock HOPEFULLY in February!!!! MISSING THIS PRODUCT! **MUST HAVE** Did you know that during WW2, letters that women wrote to their men at war were called "sugar reports"?
I have a personal obsession with the 1940s, the history, the war, documentaries pertaining to ANYTHING involving that period of time and of course, the fashion, the makeup and how creative women had to be in order to make themselves feel and look beautiful while working extremely hard in the war industry, raising families and trying to keep their emotions stable . Can you imagine?? Your whole world, changing over night.....wow! Due to war rationing, women had to get innovative with their cosmetics and even ended up using BOOT POLISH as mascara! Our line of Faux Lashes are called "Better Than Boot Polish" Faux Lashes for a reason! :) In fact....MUCH of what you see in our branding, both in the mens and womens line of product, is based on WW2 slang, including our line of Shimmer Eye Pigments! Each and every colour is named after a WW2 slang word or phrase! Looking through our site it is easy to see how much of our passion for the 1940s has been infused into everything we do! Hi everyone!! Welcome to the WarBaby Blog!! I'll be writing about lots of things in here from the makeup industry, to product to health to fitness to MY life and my work here and the brand WarBaby and what "she's" ALL about!
Let's talk all things BEAUTY!!! That means outside AND in ladies!!! Cause, I care about you and ALL of that!! Check in often and have fun everyone!! |
